So you just found out you need to cut gluten, dairy, and/or sugar from your diet, but your kitchen is brimming with brown sugar, 2% milk, whole wheat flour, and pancake mix (for your Saturday morning breakfast tradition). Not to mention the soy sauce in the cupboard, ice cream in the freezer, and that large bag of Coach's Oats from Costco.
{heavy sigh}
How in the world do you begin shopping for this new health regime?
The grocery list below took me many months to compile; and really, it's still a work-in-progress. As grocery prices soar and we've recently made our own family budget cuts, I'm continually learning how to cater to our health needs without spending a fortune.
If you're new to this gymnastic shopping routine, you'll soon figure out what works best for you and end up with your own customized list. In the meantime, I hope my shopping list can get you rolling....
That's right: five pounds of cacao. It feels good to finally confess that publicly.

Raw cacao powder is amazing! There was a delicious raw food recipe in the cookbook Raw Food Real World that combined raw cacao powder, almond milk, a frozen banana (and I think a couple of dates & vanilla - or maybe those last 2 were my own additions). There's also a recipe for a chocolate ganache tart with an almond crust that was lovely, too. Have you seen that cookbook?
ReplyDeleteJen, that cookbook sounds amazing! Thanks for the recommendation! The smoothie and ganache tart have me salivating. ;) You find the greatest recipes--thanks mucho!
